 MICHAEL ADAM ALPERT

As a muralist, Michael Alpert began experimenting with innovative ways to invigorate and energize everyday surroundings. He developed groundbreaking textures and finishes for the walls on which his murals were painted, expanding the palette of what was available in the medium. These textures would soon play a very apparent and expressive role in his paintings. Using sheetrock as his canvas and house paint as his medium, he painted portraits resulting in a highly dimensional interpretation of his subjects that has redefined traditional portraiture.
His paintings of people, especially children, are raw and real, yet remain sensitive to detail; not only the surface details, but also exposing the interior life and emotions of his subjects. His focus on the eyes of his subjects displays a concise realism which transcends the visual and draws the viewer into the realm of the spirit. The result is a very honest living image.
Michael says of his work, “The eyes allow me entry into understanding who that child is, but then I must protect that innocence and vulnerability, so I drop veils of color over them." Never content with the surface, Michael insists on understanding his subjects, conversing with them until their inner life is revealed.
Michael received his training at the High School of Music Art, The Rhode Island School of Design and Pratt Institute, where he graduated with honors. He subsequently freelanced as an illustrator, working with Oscar De La Renta, American Express, Donna Karan, Neiman Marcus, and Arnell Bickford, to name a few. His commercial work transitioned to larger mediums, and he was commissioned to paint huge murals for clients such as Sony Theatre, Magic Johnson Theatres, Planet Hollywood and numerous restaurants nationally and internationally.
Michael has spent the last 4 years transitioning from Murals and decorative finishes to large format digital images that he paints both in the computer, using photo shop, and actually on the printed image where he has developed ways to treat the surface so that it not only holds the paint and other materials, but also makes the photo paper, usually very easy to crease, now hard to, and that adds life to the image. His works have already been collected by many private residential clients for their art portfolios. Michael is now looking to expand his client base and get into venues where his work can have an even larger audience.

Today is the day you need to take action and pay tribute to a love one, your family or get that special gift for that special someone in your life. I will help you create an image that says what just what you want to say, perhaps it will have that place that you love and brings joy to your family, or the place you were sure you wanted to spend the rest of your life with your special someone. This image is about you and can be all you want it to be.

Whether you want a digital image or oil on canvas, we can create this image the way you want it.

Whether you want to have it be a photograph or a painting done with oils on canvas, or a combination of both, I will work to make this image an image that is how you see it or evoke that feeling you are looking for. I'll do all I can to make sure you get what you are looking for.
